Boxycharm September 2018 Review

Hey everyone! It’s been a while… As you may have guessed life has been crazy. My full attention has been devoted to school. My kitchen table is flash card city right now…

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised with my September Boxycharm! Check out my unboxing post here: Unboxing: Boxycharm September 2018.

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette ($35): I truly love the design of this palette! It’s gorgeous and clever! I want to love this palette so bad! I like it, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just not me. You all know I prefer warm shades so a cool toned palette was never going to be totally up my alley.

Here’s my half-assed swatches that I thought I’d redo but never did.

Is it great for a smokey eye? Absolutely! But I just don’t find myself reaching for this. Maybe it’s more of a winter palette? Also the shades at the bottom kinda suck. Do you see the bottom swatch on my arm? Yeah. You gotta really work with those!

Here’s the look I came up with! I felt like I should’ve been off to the ballet!

Is it worth it? No, I wouldn’t actually spend $35 on this. Especially considering some of the bottom shades are a bit muddy and difficult to work with. Was it worth it in my Boxycharm? Hell yeah! I’m glad I have it especially since I didn’t pay full price for it!

Girlactik Skin Glow Duo ($26): Okay, so if you read my unboxing you know that my product came slightly damaged. It’s whatever, shit happens. Also, I live in the desert so I’m honestly surprised there haven’t been more mishaps with makeup products!

Anyway, it separated from the heat. Maybe that messed up the formula? Everyone says it melts into your skin but it seems to sit on top of mine. I’m really not a fan of this. I love Girlactik but honestly I prefer my Colourpop highlighters.

Is it worth it? No, especially not for $26.

Alamar Cosmetics Ojitos Brush Set ($18): It’s no surprise I love these brushes! I only have two Alamar Cosmetics products but they are knockin’ it outta the park! The brushes are super soft and pick up product well!

Is it worth it? Yes!

Grande Cosmetics GrandeLips Hydraplump Liquid Lipstick, Red Delicious ($25): I like liquid lipstick less and less now that I’ve discovered Lux Lipsticks from Colourpop. However, this formula is amazing! It lasts so long! Also, I love the tingly feeling I get after I apply it! It’s supposed to be plumping, I haven’t noticed that, but I seriously love it. I need more shades!

What a beautiful red!

Is it worth it? Yes!

Luscious Cosmetics Angel Eyes Primer, Nude ($14): I was excited when I received this because I had just run out of primer. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with this product! It’s very tacky, which means eyeshadow really sticks to it! And a little goes a long way! Seriously. I use the tiniest bit on my finger, lightly put my fingers together to transfer the product and dab onto my eyelids.

Is it worth it? Absolutely!

One last photo of the look I created!

Final thoughts? I was really happy with my September Boxycharm! I had so much fun playing with it and I can’t wait for my October box to arrive! I just got the notification that it’s on the way!

  1. I feel the same wayy about the Nightingale palette, happy I didn’t pay full price for it. I was a bit surprised at how un-exciting the shade range and pigmentation is. Kind of a miss for me with last month’s box. nice post girl
