One Week of Looks: Alamar Reina Del Caribe Palette

Okay, if you’ve read any of my last posts you know how in love I am with this palette! But, if you missed them, you can check out my Boxycharm June 2018 Unboxing and my Boxycharm June 2018 Review.

The packaging of this palette is nice and sturdy but my favorite part, as I’ve mentioned, is that there are water droplets or suns next to the shade names. The water droplet signifies that the shade is best applied wet and the sun signifies that the shade is best applied dry. Pretty much shimmers and metallics apply went and mattes dry. I think that this is such a thoughtful detail and it really shows that Time was put into the creation of this palette.

Lets start with the fun stuff: swatches! Feel free to ooh and ah.

I made a promise to myself that for every palette I received or purchased I would challenge myself to do a week of looks (except the the Colourpop palette I got a few months ago that was literally all shimmers, bleh). This wasn’t even a challenge with this palette. Come up with seven looks? Easy. Choose seven looks? That was the challenge.

I found myself looking at the palette wanting to try one look and then getting excited about a different color and doing something else. Then I’d go back to do the look I originally wanted and come up with a new idea for the next time. The possibilities are seemingly endless with this palette!

I do want to mention that none of these photos are edited, so the shade on my eyes is what comes through in natural lighting. Also I should wax my eyebrows but who has time for that?

Look One

  • Crease: Coco-Taxi
  • Inner lid: El Malecón
  • Outer lid: Trópico
  • Lower lash line: Trópico

Look Two

  • Crease: Coco-Taxi
  • Inner lid: El Malecón
  • Outer lid: Trópico
  • Lower lash line: Varadero
  • Inner corner: La Costa

So this is pretty much the exact same look as above but instead of Trópico on the outer lid I put Guantanamera. I didn’t think it was enough of a drastic change to make it a new look. (My under eyes are crazy pale here because I ran out of concealer and had to use an old one! Time to go shopping!)

Look Three

  • Crease: Coco-Taxi
  • Inner lid: Coco-Taxi
  • Outer lid: Cafecito
  • Lower lash line: Varadero
  • Inner corner: El Malecón

I’m not counting this as a new look because I literally took Veradero off of my lower lash line and applied Celia because I thought it would pop more.

Look Four

This look got me a lot of compliments at work! One of the things I love about this palette is that you can create fun going out looks or you can keep it simple and work appropriate. I’ll definitely be wearing this look to work more often! Also, this lipstick is the Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Verona.

  • Brow bone: La Costa
  • Crease: Coco-Taxi
  • Inner lid: Coco-Taxi
  • Outer lid: Cafecito
  • Lower lash line: Cafecito
  • Inner corner: La Costa

Look Five

I wore this look when I went to watch the Portugal vs Uruguay game before work. I had Portugal winning on my bracket (yeah, my bracket isn’t doing so hot) so I decided to wear something festive and colorful. Portugal’s flag is red and green; I own nothing red and this is the only green shirt I have. Dinosaurs are dino-mite! I really just wanted to share this shirt with you guys.

I was bummed when the bartender didn’t card me. I was wearing a dinosaur shirt! And he didn’t card? O_O That didn’t make me feel so great. Anyway, back to the looks…

  • Brow bone: La Costa
  • Crease: Coco-Taxi
  • Inner lid: Coco-Taxi
  • Outer lid: Trópico
  • Lower lash line: Guantanamera
  • Inner corner: El Malecón

Look Six

  • Brow bone: La Costa
  • Crease: Coco-Taxi
  • Inner lid: Trópico
  • Outer lid: Cafecito
  • Lower lash line: Cafecito
  • Inner corner: La Costa

Look Seven

Okay I had to get out of my comfort zone at some point during this challenge. As you know, I’m not crazy about blues but I like how this came out! I like to channel the 80s sometimes! The only thing I’m missing is big hair and leg warmers.

  • Brow bone: La Costa
  • Crease: Coco-Taxi
  • Inner lid: Celia
  • Outer lid: Varadero
  • Lower lash line: Varadero and Celia
  • Inner corner: El Malecón

Okay now that we’ve seen the looks that I came up with, is this palette worth it? Obviously I’m going to say yes but you know I love numbers so let’s look at the numbers!

This palette retails for $28 and contains 11.2 grams of product which makes it $2.50 per gram of product. This is actually pretty expensive. If we look at Colourpop, their palettes average at $16 and contain roughly 10.2 grams of product. Therefore Colourpop costs about $1.57 per gram of product.

Alamar Reina Del Caribe Palette is a more expensive palette, but I honestly think it’s worth it. All of the shades are fantastic, they blend well and I just don’t have anything negative to say! (Is that a first for me?)

Which of the looks was your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

  1. YAY I’m happy you posted your looks with this palette! I really like look 4 for everyday, it looks so simple and pretty! I need to try out your first two looks with El Malecon on the inner portion of the lid, I love the way it came out! And of course veradero on the lower lash line, I hadn’t thought to try that.
    Great post!

    1. Thank you! It was so fun to play with!! 😊 I think look 4 ended up being my favorite because I can wear it to work every day!
I prefer wearing blues on the lower lash line because I like the pop of blue as opposed to blue everywhere. 😅
Now I’m ready for this month’s Boxycharm to come in!

      1. That’s a good point, blue everywhere can be a little bit crazy for everyday lol!
I had to unsubscribe so that I could use up a few things in my makeup box before getting more, but I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in your July Boxycharm!

      2. It’s so hard to use up makeup when you keep getting more! I honestly should unsubscribe because I have so much makeup and funds are tight right now. Maybe after next month? 🤔 Who am I kidding? I probably won’t! 😅

      3. At the same time it’s nice to treat yourself once a month! I love getting subscriptions in the mail. I also just ordered more ColourPop and a new pair of shoes so that’s also a factor in why I unsubscribed, I’m still buying more things I don’t need xD
