Okay guys, so I wasn’t so sure about this mascara when I got it in my Boxycharm this month. It made a lot of claims: 200% thicker lashes and an increase of lash curl by 314%. Those are some big percentages. And random. Why 314%? Where are these numbers coming from?
My eyelashes look thicker and longer, as they do with mascara, but they don’t necessarily hold a curl any better.
I normally don’t buy mascara unless it’s waterproof. For whatever reason, mascara does not stay on my eyelashes. Halfway through the day I’m left with black circles under my eyes. It’s a problem.
I’ve tested only wearing mascara and no other eye makeup and I’ve tested not wearing mascara and only wearing eyeliner; it’s the mascara. Even the beloved Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara falls below my eyes. I can only wear it if I layer waterproof mascara on top.
When I put this mascara on for the first time I was ready to layer the waterproof on top but I stopped myself. I wanted to see how it fared alone. Guess what? It doesn’t fall down! I’m amazed! Truly! What is this magic? What is this formula? How is this possible?
I decided to compare Butter London Double Decker mascara with Better Than Sex. I wore one on the right eye and one on the left and asked my husband which he preferred. He preferred the Double Decker side. About four hours later he still preferred the Double Decker side (at that point obviously because that eye wasn’t black underneath).
I do love the way that my lashes look with this mascara. They don’t look clumpy and they do look longer. But let’s talk numbers.
This mascara retails for $20. This mascara contains .41 ounces of product. By comparison, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara retails at $23 and contains .27 ounces of product. Butter London Double Decker Mascara has a little more than 1.5 times the product that Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara has for less money! That’s crazy! Considering this stays on my lashes longer than Better Than Sex, I would recommend this product.
On the Butter London website they claim that they don’t test on animals however the mascaras do contain animal products.
I hope this review was useful! What are your favorite mascaras?
