My Veggie Shake

I’ve been wanting to post this for a while, but every time I make my shake I’m in some kind of a hurry or I’m too busy watching The Office to be bothered to take pictures. But I am finally posting my veggie shake!

This has most of the micronutrients that you need. If you’re concerned with health, this shake is for you! If you’re concerned with your skin, this shake is for you! Just drink the shake, I promise you’ll feel the difference.

Let’s get into it!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 125g kale
  • 75g spinach
  • 40g blueberries (if you aren’t on keto feel free to add more)
  • 10g broccoli sprouts
  • 1 lemon squeezed (roll it before you cut it to get maximum juice and don’t worry about the seeds, they blend right up.)
  • 32g almond butter (sometimes I go sans almond butter depending on how my fats are looking.)
  • 10g chia seeds
  • a couple shakes of turmeric
  • a couple shakes of cinnamon
  • water (I usually eyeball it and slowly add more depending on the consistency I want)

When I can find rainbow chard I freeze it and add in 40g (my local grocery store hasn’t carried it recently). I used to add collagen to this shake before I started mixing it with bone broth (check out my collagen post!) so feel free to add it to this instead!

I recommend this shake for everyone even if you aren’t on a ketogenic diet. In fact, if you aren’t on a ketogenic diet I recommend adding a banana, an apple or extra fruit to help with the taste (it’s healthy not delicious, people). If you don’t follow a ketogenic diet the almond butter isn’t necessary at all (I only add it for fats and it does better in the shake than coconut oil).

I recommend freezing a majority of the items so that the shake is colder. I freeze the kale, spinach, blueberries and broccoli sprouts.

I purchased a Vitamix specifically for this shake. I tried making it in a regular blender… bad idea. Get a really good blender.

Throw everything except the chia seeds in your Vitamix. Trust me, chia seeds get really bitter when you blend them. Blend everything for about 60 seconds (adding more water if you need to), add the chia seeds and enjoy!

I rarely drink mine right away. I purchased a Hydrology container from Amazon that keeps it cold the entire day so I can drink it on my lunch at work! I’ve tried a few other containers but this is the best one by far!

      1. Yes let me know! I don’t put much fruit in mine (only blueberries) so it tastes very vegetable-y. You can grow broccoli sprouts at home though! It’s really easy and they’re amazing for you!
