I love makeup. If there’s anything that I love as much as lifting and health it’s makeup. I was a tomboy growing up and never touched the stuff so I feel like since high school I’ve been making up for lost time.
One of my favorite makeup brands is Colourpop. Their makeup is super cheap but it’s also great quality! I’m thankful they don’t have a brick and mortar store because if they did I would spend all of my money! Who am I kidding though? I already spend all of my money on makeup. I need to stop.
In my spare time I watch a lot of makeup tutorials and videos because I love learning about new products. One of my favorite YouTubers is Kathleen Lights and she recently posted a video of her favorite Colourpop products and offered a 20% discount on the Colourpop website. Discount you say?
I added a few items to my cart that I’ve been wanting but they offer free shipping if you spend $30 so I bought more… That free shipping gets me every time!
Another thing I love about Colourpop is that their items ship incredibly fast! Maybe it’s because they’re from L.A. and I live in Vegas. Regardless, I appreciate it.
Let’s get to it! I purchased all products that Kathleen likes, including her collaboration with Colourpop (gotta support my girl!).
I purchased a gel eyeliner in the shade Mr. Bing (Friends reference anyone?), a highlighter in the shade Flexitarian, Kathleen’s palette called Dream St., a concealer in the shade Light 20 and a bronzer in the shade Private Party. (The white box at the bottom is a free mirror/case for the bronzer!)
Colourpop also sent me this! I’m touched! A free ultra glossy lip because they were busy? You really didn’t have to, Colourpop! But that’s why I love them. This gloss is in the shade Polished.
As soon as I got the notification that my items were delivered I couldn’t wait to try them all on! Does anyone else keep checking their phone for delivery notifications?
Above are swatches of the Dream St. palette under sunlight (left) and under artificial light (right). From bottom to top the shades are: Shooting Star, Magical, Star Dust, Twinkle, Sweet Dreams, Water Bearer, Potion, Spark, Kaleidoscope, Elfish, Moony and Mermaid Boy.
Potion is definitely my favorite shade (I love warm colors!) along with the entire first row (Shooting Star, Magical, Star Dust and Twinkle). I wear a lot of nudes and browns to work so most of the shades in this palette I can use daily. I’ll get the least amount of use from Water Bearer and Mermaid Boy because I never wear cool colors (unless someone wants to invite me to an 80’s themed party).
Overall I’m very excited about this palette! Colourpop’s eyeshadows are usually very pigmented and last all day on me.
Okay, above are the swatches (I know you can barely see them), starting from the bottom: bronzer (Private Party), highlighter (Flexitarian) and my current favorite Colourpop highlighter (Lunch Money). The bronzer is quite a bit lighter than I was expecting and it’s more of a shimmery bronzer (which I don’t love) but I’ll certainly play around with it more. Flexitarian is definitely more shimmery than Lunch Money but also more of a glittery highlighter. I do prefer Lunch Money for my cheeks but Flexitarian will look great in my inner corners!
For the last products I just swatched them all together. The bottom is the concealer (Light 20). It looks totally wrong for my skin (especially in the artificial light) but it’s actually my perfect shade. The next product is the gel eyeliner in Mr. Bing which looks similar to the complimentary lip gloss that they sent! The gloss is definitely metallic and it honestly doesn’t last very long, but it’s so so pretty!
I’ve actually learned something from this post: my skin looks totally different under artificial light! Now that I see the difference side by side I’m shocked!
My skin has a yellow undertone but I always thought it was strange that it looked a little more pink inside. Whenever I put on makeup I got from my vanity to a bathroom with natural light to make sure my foundation doesn’t look strange (you think I would just do my makeup in the bathroom but I can sit down at my vanity and I like sitting). But now that I see these photos side by side there is a huge difference!
Anyway, I’ll post some looks that I’ve tried from this haul in my next post! If you haven’t tried Colourpop I highly recommend them! Their products are so affordable and the quality is great!
