Tomorrow will be Day One of the ketogenic diet for me! To prepare, I went to the grocery store and bought all of my keto friendly needs for the week. I try to stick to organic as much as possible but some products aren’t always available and who has the money to shop at Whole Foods? Not this girl.
As you can see I purchased lots of fatty meats. All of my selections are grass fed beefs, uncured bacon and wild caught salmon. I try to keep everything as organic and grass fed as possible. I do recommend chicken thighs as a red meat alternative but I honestly hate chicken. Maybe that stems from all those years of eating chicken breast and brown rice every single day. At least chicken thighs have flavor, right?
I also have organic eggs, Kerrygold grass fed butter (this stuff is seriously the best), organic coconut oil, organic heavy whipping cream and bleu cheese. I don’t eat a lot of dairy besides butter but I really love bleu cheese on my steaks.
Next up are the veggies! I will have to go back to the store because they did not have enough brussels sprouts or broccoli. Broccoli and brussels sprouts are my favorite veggies and luckily they are keto friendly! I usually sauté them in butter and a healthy pinch of Himalayan pink salt. Mushrooms are a must in my diet as well!
As you can see I have a box of organic spinach and a bag of organic kale. What you don’t see is the rest of the bags stuffed into my freezer. I use the spinach and kale in my veggie micronutrient shake. It doesn’t taste good but it’s really good for you. The organic blueberries help with the taste a little bit, but not very much. I also bought lemons and chia seeds for the shake!
